here I am, doing the things

I know a decent amount about writing! It's my passion. My purpose in life, even!
But I know very little about websites.
You know what I realized a long time ago? That the ability to keep learning new things is a gift. So this whole new website thing with the hosting and the domain and the optimizing...I'm going to figure it out, because it's a gift, right?!
When I graduated from college, I was done with the learning. I had completed 17 years of in a row of education and I never wanted to learn anything again.
Which is dumb.
But I didn't know it at the time.
I was only 21, a mere baby.
I told my future Father-in-law this and he looked at me and said,"Really?"
And I said, "Yep. I'm done. I've had enough."
And he said, "Hmm, I never want to quit learning."
And I had know clue how impactful that conversation would be in my life until years later when my dad was diagnosed with cancer and passed away 9 months after the diagnosis.
(Sheesh, Kat, that took a turn!)
I know, I know. I'm sorry! But there's a point and it's not to be sad right now!
When my dad passed away, I realized that life was not for the wasting. I was going to experience life. I was going to say yes to more things. I was going to challenge myself. I decided that I was going to live an interesting life.
But that meant that I would have to learn new things. And folks, I did.
I am fascinated by how much I DON'T know. I am intrigued by how much other people know and by the interesting things they know. (My husband is a clinical lab scientist and knows about idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura - I mean...WHAT?!) And sometimes I am even a bit surprised to step back and look at all I have learned in the past 15 years since my dad passed away. (Did you know that if you squeeze a snapdragon on its hinged petals, it's "mouth" will open just like a real dragon?! Click the link - that's a freebee.)

So my current learning challenge is making this website look like it knows what it's doing. I'm currently relying on the web host to make it look that way, but hopefully, eventually, I'll be able to make it look like I did it!
While all that website hostingness and domaining is valuable for me to understand, the best learning that I have experi
enced always comes back to what God has taught me. He teaches me through the Bible, through prayer, through my friends, and even my kids. He is an incredible teacher: He
is omniscient, after all!
"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." Psalm 32:8.
God: Best Teacher Ever.
